Make Memories

To capture the magic of your summer vacation for years to come, plan your travel scrapbook while you're still away. It's easy with these tips from Creative Memories consultant Lisa Summerour.

BE ORGANIZED- Label an expanding file folder with the days and dates of your trip, then drop all the memorabilia from the day into the proper pocket.

GET CREATIVE- Go beyond typical mementos like postcards, and look for anything that captures the essense of the trip: maps, travel guides, menus, ticket stubs, even toll receipts.

SLIM DOWN- Include bulky keepsakes that won't fit between the pages (Like that Hawaiian lei) by making color copies, then simply adhering them to the pages.

PHOTO FINISH- Be different: Everyone who goes to Disney World gets a picture with Mickey Mouse, but how about a shot of your feet next to Mickey's feet for comparisoin? Or, to document a road trip, try snapping the "welcome to..." state signs. Your scrapbook (and memories) will be unforgettable, guaranteed.

Flip Flops

Instructions for making Me Me's oval cutter flip flops:
View #1 - two pair of finished Me Me flip flops made from a (CM) oval cutter.
View #2 – a collection of tools and supplies used to make Me Me’s flip flops.
View #3 - oval template and oval blade cartridge (I used CM cutting system but other systems can be used.

A. Cut an oval from a scrap of cardstock or any paper to use for a "Pattern." Choose two pieces of paper (coordinated) and cut two ovals the same size (ANY SIZE can be used) from each color. See view #3

B. Take your cardstock or extra paper oval and pencil marks like the ones shown on view #2. This will be your "PATTERN".

C. Put one set of the patterned ovals FACE to FACE. Use your "PATTERN" and hold the ovals together tightly. Now cut off the penciled area of these ovals. Do the same thing with the other set of ovals.

E. Turn the ovals with printed side up. Now use your marker to mark edges of "tops" and "bottoms" of flip flops. On the "bottom" set you will only need to use the marker on the outside edge of one "foot" and the inside edge of the other "foot". (This will indicate direction of light.) See view #1

F. You should begin to see the flip flop taking shape. Put the "TOP" piece over the "BOTTOM" piece . Leave an edge on bottom section to indicate platform. (You will notice when doing this part that the "BOTTOM edge will be on the outside of one of the flip flops and the inside edge of the other flip flop".)

G. Now, you can place the pieces together. Use a couple pieces of small adhesive you can re-position. Leave edges free so you can insert ribbon or othe toe strap item. Pencil where strap is to be added. Use a x-acto knife to punch a hole. Cut a piece of ribbon, fiber, etc. about the size you will need for strap. Now fold the "strap" in half and feed it through the hole. When you are happy with the placement you can attach with adhesive. Now arrange the outside part of the "strap", tucking between the "top" and "bottom" edge. Attach face adhesive.)
