Seashell Candles for the Beach Lover

A collection of seashells adds a summer theme to this project.

Materials:
Seashells
Paraffin
Knife
Chopping Block
Sand or rice
Tea lights
potholder
Double boiler or microwave oven & glass measuring cup

Directions:
1. Wash and throughly dry the shells. In order to stabilize the shells while puring wax, sit them upright in a sand-filled bowl or other container. Rice may be used if sand is not available.

2. Remove the tin casing from the tea light. Gently pull the metal core from the bottom of the tea light to remove wick.

3. Place metal core with the wick standing upright in the center of the shell. Set aside.

4. Cut the paraffin into 1" cubes, using a sharp knife on a chopping block. *please have adult do this* Place the cubes ina double boiler or a class measuring cup if using a microwave oven.

5. Please the measuring cup in the microwave oven and heat on high for about six minutes. If using a double boiler, heat over medium heat until was is melted (approx 5 minutes).

6. Remove melted wax from microwave with a pot holder *grown up use only* and pour wax slowly into the shell. If using a double boiler, use the same methold. Let dry and there you have your shell candle!!
